Location and Dates

The five user meetings will take place in the following locations and dates:

  1. University of Crete, Heraklion. Date: Monday 4th February (10:00 to 14:00). The meeting will take place at the Department of Chemistry of the University of Crete
  2. University of Tel-Aviv, Israel. Date: Tuesday 19th February (9:00 to 13:00). The meeting will take place at Tel Aviv University, Gilman Building, room 277.  (Building #39 on the detailed map you can find here).  
  3. University of Jordan, Amman, Jordan. Date: Tuesday 28th February (9:00 to 13:00). The meeting will take place at Ahmad Alauzi Hall, King Abdullah II School for Information Technology, University of Jordan
  4. Ain-Shams University, Cairo Egypt. Date: Monday 4th March (11:00 to 15:00) The meeting will take place at the Seminar Hall in the ground floor of the main building of Faculty of Science, Ain-Shams University, Cairo
  5. Assuit University, Egypt. Date: Monday 19th March (11:00 to 15:00). The meeting will take place at the Lecture room of the supercomputer lab, Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science, Assiut University.

User Meeting Details

The user meeting will:

  • Provide a general introduction to LinkSCEEM and its resources.

  • Give an overview of available HPC systems and software available within LinkSCEEM.

  • Describe the training program of LinkSCEEM and the various LinkSCEEM training events. Attendees will also be informed on upcoming events and available fellowships (funded by LinkSCEEM).

  • Explain how people can access the HPC resources available through LinkSCEEM for the purpose of their scientific research projects.

The user meeting will also include a hands-on session where participants of the user meeting will be guided through the various steps which are required to access and submit jobs to a LinkSCEEM HPC resource. This will include the generation of ssh keys, compilation and submission of jobs – all of which will be accompanied with relevant hands-on practical examples.

Registration

People wishing to attend any one of the user meetings should express their interest to Eleftherios Eleftheriou - clearly indicating the location they wish to attend the user meeting. Attendance to the workshops is given on a first come first serve basis.

- Crete: 28 of January 2013

- Israel: 11 of February 2013

- Jordan: 20 of February 2013

- Egypt, Cairo: 28 of February 2013

- Egypt, Assuit: 11 of March 2013

Equipment

Participants are expected to bring their own laptops - so they will be able to participate on the hands on exercises during the user meeting, and any other things (such as stationery) they themselves may need during the user meeting.
