HPC User Meeting September 2012

The Computation-based Science and Technology Research Center (CaSToRC) of the Cyprus Institute (CyI) is organizing a user meeting on Monday 3 September 2012, 14:30 – 18:00 at the Cyprus Institute (Athalassa Campus).

The user meeting is aimed at current or potential high-performance computing (HPC) users, within the scientific community and is part of the networking process, conducted within the LinkSCEEM-2 & Cy-Tera projects. The objectives of the User Meeting are:

1. To provide a forum where users and providers of HPC facilities in Cyprus and the Eastern Mediterranean can meet and exchange views and information.

2. To showcase & explore the available HPC infrastructures in the region, and the ways they currently serve their user communities.

3. To provide an opportunity for computational scientists from the region (both users and providers) to learn from the experiences of leaders in HPC.

4. To lay the foundations of a user community around the Cy-Tera HPC facility of the Cyprus Institute's CaSToRC center, and beyond.

5. To collect high-level requirements and expectations from user communities to serve as a guideline for future infrastructure planning and development.

During the user meeting, current and potential HPC users will present their work and their related computational needs.
