The meeting targets young researchers from the region and will address programming training needs of current and prospective HPC users both from Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean.
During the first two days of the event the participants will receive training on the following topics from the Software Carpentry team (http://software-carpentry.org/):
- Unix Shel
- Version control
- Python
On the third day of the event the following topics will be covered:
- Introduction to OpenMP
- OpenMP – Performance Considerations
- OpenMP – The Details

* scheduling policies in OpenMP
* data environment, synchronization etc.
* SIMD constructs
Finally, during the last day the event training will be focused on:
- Accelerator Programming with Compiler Directives
* OpenMP 4.0 for accelerators
* OpenACC directives for GPU programming
The programme will contain theoretical and hands-on training sessions to enable deep understanding of the concepts and their application on modern HPC. Trainees will be given access to Euclid, the training cluster of the LinkSCEEM project, where they will be able to carry out the hands-on exercises and practice what they have learned.
