Following the success of GeoSkill 2010, which addressed the challenges of training and developing E&P professionals in the 21st Century, this second workshop will continue to build on those general themes and will more specifically address the challenges and opportunities arising from the competitive and collaborative dynamics of international cooperation between NOCs and IOCs.
The need for effective training and development of technical staff is as strong as ever, and both changing and increasing in producing countries that have evolving regional needs. Future and new recruits into the industry must build on their academic education and become independent contributors in the workplace as quickly as possible, while experienced professionals must continue to learn and adapt as new technologies and new plays emerge.
GeoSkill 2012 will provide a forum for the exchange of knowledge and experience concerning solutions to the challenges associated with academic training, recruiting, developing, deploying and retaining a global workforce. How can IOCs, NOCs, Universities and other training providers build bridges to meet and resolve the regional challenges?
The format of the workshop, held in the charming environment of Pau city, will combine lectures, plenary discussions, poster presentations , exhibition booths and optional geological field trip, appealing to a wide range of students, academics and industry professionals, seniors and juniors, who play or will play a role in developing technical competency within individuals and organisations.
