SESAME-LinkSCEEM Summer School

A first summer school about HPC application in synchrotron filed was, jointly, organized by Synchrotron-light for Experimental Science and Applications in the Middle East (SESAME), Linking Scientific Computing in Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean (LinkSCEEM) Project and European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF). The school was held at SESAME site in Allan - Jordan.

The duration of the school was three days starting July 17th to July 19th 2011. In order to cover the WP2 and WP4 from the LinkSCEEM project; the two first days were dedicated to advanced training course with lectures and hands-on sessions in the field of synchrotron and HPC related applications. The third day was for users talks (to give a chance of synchrotron and HPC users in the region to present their works and researches).

The school was attended by about 24 trainees from different fields with different grades attended the school. The goal was a number of 30 trainees shared between 15 locals (Jordan) and the rest from all other countries in the region (See Table II).

Travel and Accommodation

The non Jordanian trainees benefited from a contribution to their travelling tickets. Rooms were booked at Ibis hotel in Amman (see below) with a secured transport from the hotel to SESAME and back. Moreover, lunch and tea brakes were organized on site (SESAME) for all the trainees during the whole school days. In the following table (Table I) is summarized the financial status.
